LIFE

Webster Dictionary defines life as “the course of human events and activities”. In other words, people are defined only by the life they have lived, the life they are living and the life they are planning. One asks at times, Who am I? or What will I become? There must be so much more to someone’s life, and if so, where can I find the answer?

As I start to remember my faint memories of being a child, I realize I have been preparing for my life for many years. I found the directions of a childhood game “LIFE” and quickly thought BINGO! The answers must be here.

Directions read: Spin the wheel of fate! Do good deeds to earn Life Tiles and more money down the road! At first, one thinks “That seems easy”. However the description continues – Includes: 6 SUV’s, pink and blue ‘people’ pegs, money, insurance policies and bank loans, bankers tray and instructions.

I stop again and think silently. Wait a minute…was I given instructions? And if so, where the heck did I put them? I continue.

Ages: 9 & up. Are you kidding? At 9 years old a child is suppose to know about raising kids and driving an SUV. How about insurance policies and bank loans? And then it happened. Of course a 9 year old doesn’t know about insurance policies. This game board with its plastic bridges and mountains has taught me about life.

Life is not easy. You must do good deeds and earn money. One must start and love their family. You must take out insurance to keep them safe. You must live according to any unexpected events that may happen to you – from a house fire to having twins. It has fun times and desperate times. Life is living – to sit down with a friend and enjoy every moment of it. From giggles when you realized you just got married to a yucky boy, to surprisingly find you filled all your empty spots in your SUV with babies, to deciding which retirement home you are choosing to reside at. I now realize that life is not easy but it’s a moment in time that is filled with laughter, tears, surprises and most of all love, family and friends.
